I give myself permission

Today, I give myself permission to just stop.

To stop trying. To stop forcing. To stop carefully crafting everything to be just so.

I give myself permission to be less than I can be.

I give myself permission to do nothing.

To sit and think with no specific outcome in mind.

To write with no purpose other than the joy of marking the blank paper.

To be, with no agenda for what I can achieve through that being.

To just exist.

I give myself permission to eat toast with strawberry jam and laugh as it dribbles down my chin and fingers, ignoring the usual internal dialogue to be more careful, not make a mess, quickly clean it up.

I give myself permission to not know how to spend my time, even though my mind is in overdrive with all the things I should and could be doing.

I give myself permission to ignore everything else that is going on outside in the ‘real world’.

I give myself permission to not achieve anything other than finding a way to be at peace with who I am and how I’m showing up in this life.

I give myself permission not to make any decisions.

I give myself permission to feel all that I’m feeling without judging or jumping to conclusions.

I give myself permission to trust that this way I’m feeling today will pass and to honour what is here in the now without fear.

All of these things, in themselves, are enough for a lifetime of days.

And today, I give myself permission to let that be OK.

What do you need to give yourself permission for today?
